Interior drainage systems, like French drains, sub-floor drainage or interior water channelling systems, collect water after it has already infiltrated through the foundation wall. This water is directed to a sump pump pit where it is pumped back out again. This system does nothing to relieve the external hydrostatic pressure against foundation walls. This is only recommended when access is restricted for exterior excavation and repair.
